Although no public transport runs from the airport to Cancun city, an authorized taxi stand can be found outside in addition to car rental companies, such as Avis and Europcar and it’s not too far of a trip. The terminals are all equipped with a range of shops, restaurants, and bars. About 60 airlines fly from Cancun - more than double the amount which serves Mexico City International Airport. The busiest routes are the domestic Mexico City and Atlanta, Houston, and Dallas in the US. The three-terminal facility receives many flights from the US, Latin America, and the rest of the world. It is, however, the main gateway into the country for international visitors. Mexico’s second busiest airport receives around 13 million annual passengers, half the number of Mexico City’s visitors. Alternatively, all major car rental companies are present if you would like to drive yourself. Bus services and authorized taxis are also available. Terminal 1 is served by a metro line which runs into Mexico City, and the nearby Pantitlan metro station is within walking distance of Terminal 2. Around 30 airlines serve the airport, the most active being AeroMexico, followed by Interjet, Volaris, and VivaAerobus.īoth terminals have a variety of restaurants, cafés, and duty-free stores. The busiest international routes are Los Angeles, Miami, and Houston in the US, and Madrid and Paris in Europe, while the most popular domestic flights are to Cancun and Monterrey. The second-largest airport in Latin America, Mexico City International Airport is the busiest airport in the country, receiving around 26 million passengers in 2011.
